Service Description

Get a clear, joined‑up picture of learning strengths and needs with a combined dyslexia and dyscalculia assessment. This full diagnostic assessment for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) explores literacy skills (reading, spelling and writing), maths skills (number sense, calculation and problem‑solving) and the underlying cognitive processes that support them. By assessing attainment and cognition together, we can identify whether the difficulty is dyslexia, dyscalculia, both, or neither, and recommend the targeted support that helps you—or your child—thrive. Your assessment looks at everyday performance as well as the cognitive foundations that sit beneath it. Alongside literacy and maths testing, we examine areas such as working memory, processing speed, phonological skills, rapid automatised naming (RAN) and visual‑spatial skills. Bringing these results together pinpoints why barriers are occurring and which strategies, interventions and reasonable adjustments will make the biggest difference at school, college, university or work. This service is suitable for children, teenagers and adults who need a reliable diagnosis and practical next steps. Whether you’re seeking support in the classroom, planning for exams, preparing for university or requesting workplace adjustments, the assessment provides clear, evidence‑based guidance you can act on straight away. You will receive a comprehensive diagnostic report written to UK expectations, which is widely accepted by schools, colleges, universities and employers. The report is designed to be understood by families, educators and employers, and it translates test findings into concrete recommendations—classroom strategies, study skills, technology tools and workplace accommodations. For students aged 16 and over, the assessment includes post‑16 diagnostic reporting designed to meet SASC (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee) expectations for evidence for the Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA). Where appropriate, the assessment provides the evidence centres need to consider Exam Access Arrangements (EAA)—for example extra time. A combined dyslexia and dyscalculia assessment gives a precise diagnosis and avoids duplication, saving time and cost. It offers a single, coherent view of learning that links literacy, numeracy and cognition, so recommendations are joined‑up, practical and personalised. You leave with clear answers and a roadmap of targeted support to build confidence and independence.
