Dyslexia Assessments For Children, Adolescents and Adults

If you are looking for a private full diagnostic dyslexia assessment, we offer a thorough, face-to-face service designed to give you clear answers, a full picture of strengths and difficulties, and practical next steps. Our assessments follow current SASC guidance and include a detailed written report with tailored recommendations for support.

The Assessment Process

Before the Assessment

Every assessment begins with a consultation so we can build a clear picture of the person being assessed. Before the appointment, we send screening questionnaires to gather background information from different perspectives. For child assessments, we also ask for information from school so we can understand how your child presents in the classroom as well as at home.

Face-to-Face Assessment

The formal assessment takes place face to face at our clinic and usually lasts 2 to 3 hours. It explores the pattern of skills linked to dyslexia, including language and reasoning, reading, writing and spelling, speed of processing and retrieval, memory and attention, and visual-spatial processing. The aim is to understand how the person learns, where the barriers sit, and what support is likely to help most.

Detailed Report and Follow-Up

Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive written report setting out the findings clearly and explaining the next steps. The report includes practical recommendations tailored to the individual, and we also arrange a follow-up consultation to talk through the findings and answer any questions.
